LAST NIGHT, THE MTV Video Music Awards took place in New York City.
The big winner of the night was, no surprise, Beyoncé. Queen Bey took home eight awards including Video of the Year for Formation. Other winners on the night included Drake, Calvin Harris and Fifth Harmony.
Additionally, Rihanna was presented with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
But let’s be real — the night was all about Beyoncé.
Bow down, mere mortals.
She arrived on the red carpet flanked by young women featured in the video for Formation and mothers of African-American men killed by police officers.
Her companions included Winnie Harlow, Chloe x Halle, Ava Clark and Quvenzhané Wallis as well as the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant, Michael Brown and Eric Garner, four high-profile victims of police brutality.
Hmm, remind you of anything?

You know who else joined Beyoncé on the red carpet?
That’s right, Blue Ivy.
HER LITTLE FACE!
But you know who was a no-show?
Jay-Z.

It was probably for the best, though, considering Beyoncé went on stage and recreated Lemonade.
She performed a 15-minute medley of songs from the visual album and recreated scenes from the iconic video.

SHE SWUNG A BASEBALL BAT THE CAMERA, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
Slay.

So, you know, it probably wouldn’t have been safe for Jay-Z.

Other Beyoncé highlights of the night included when the US gymnastics team presented her with the award for Best Female Video and she HUGGED THEM
She dedicated her Video of the Year award to the people of New Orleans.
Did we mention she now has more VMAs than any other artist?
Bow down, tbh.
